Martisor

On March the 1st in our country there is a tradition by which people give each other lucky charms. It’s roots go way back in time. In the beginning girls used to make strings of white and red thread and tide them to a charm. They then offered them to their boyfriends. The two colors symbolized purity and love.
Later on the custom spread to people who lived in town too. It also became generalized for boys to offer this symbol of their love to their girlfriends.
Nowadays lucky charms come in the most amazing shapes representing flowers, animals, zodiac signs or anything else that human imagination can think of. They are offered by children and adults as well to anyone they want to.
